Q. Does your Windows Reseller hosting require a static IP address for remote SQL Server access?

Ans. It is not necessary to use a static IP address for remote SQL Server access, you can connect to MS SQL database using our shared server’s IP address from anywhere with any type of internet connection.

Q. Do you offer a Database backup service - if yes how frequent is the backup & how much does it cost?

Ans. We offer MSSQL 2005 express version, which comes with its own management interface called SQL- Express Management Studio. SQL- Express Management Studio allows you to manage the administration of your databases. You can place a helpdesk ticket with our support department to request a backup to be taken and/or restoring a backup for you. There are no charges involved with this.

Q. Q. How is the space for MS SQL database divided? Can I get more MS SQL database space than the limit on shared hosting plans?

Ans. The size of MS SQL database space is divided into log file + data file. For example, if database space is 300 MB that is 150 MB data file plus 150MB log file.

The Disk space limit on each hosting plan includes your web space, email space as well as database space. You will need to upgrade your hosting plan to next better plan if you need more space for databases, e-mail accounts or web quota.

Q. What happens if an MS SQL database space exceeds the limit, will the account be suspended or will the hosted application using database will work with errors?

Ans. Your account won’t be suspended. You might get some errors on the URL that might be using MSSQL databases. And you will also get notifications on your email address about the disk space limits exceeded.

Q. Can i be able to use an MS Access database instead of mysql or php on windows hosting packages?

Ans :- Microsoft Access (MS Access) database as well as Microsoft SQL (MSSQL) databases are supported on all our windows hosting packages. You can add unlimited databases under any of our windows hosting packages. The only limitations enforced would be the number of domains, webspace and bandwidth you have.

Q. My Site will be developed in asp.net 1.1 or 2.0. The site will also be linked to a Microsoft Access database. How would I go about getting the website and associated files to you?

Ans :- We have both ASP.NET 1.1 and 2.0 on our Windows® server. You can just start uploading your web-pages using any FTP software you wish or using the file manager feature in plesk control panel that we provide with our windows hosting plans. In addition, you can also setup a DSN or a connection string for connecting to your access database.
