DNP Cluster

How eUKhost’s DotNetPanel Structure works :-

DotNetPanel has 3 separate web applications:

• DNP Web Portal
• DNP Standard Server
• DNP Server

Web Portal – DotNetPanel Web Portal is a control panel interface which works with port 9001; users and resellers can manage user accounts, hosting spaces, web sites, FTP accounts, files etc through this interface.

Standard Server – Standard Server license is a central application of the DotNetPanel system, this helps Portal and DNP server to manage web hosting operations and remote services. It also includes all business logic of the application and maintains DotNetPanel meta-data database. Enterprise Server manages remote servers through SOAP Web Services.

Server – DotNetPanel Server is a non-visual application representing a set of web services and currently hosted in IIS. DotNetPanel Server receives requests from DotNetPanel Enterprise Server and performs all low-level operations (creating web sites, FTP accounts, mail boxes, databases, etc.) on the server.

Ans. It is not necessary to use a static IP address for remote SQL Server access, you can connect to MS SQL database using our shared server’s IP address from anywhere with any type of internet connection.

Database back-up service

Q. Do you offer a Database backup service – if yes how frequent is the backup & how much does it cost?

Ans. We offer MSSQL 2005 express version, which comes with its own management interface called SQL- Express Management Studio. SQL- Express Management Studio allows you to manage the administration of your databases. You can place a helpdesk ticket with our support department to request a backup to be taken and/or restoring a backup for you. There are no charges involved with this.

Getting started with your Windows Hosting account

Q. How to get started with your Windows Hosting account?

Ans. First thing you need to do is login in your control panel using the URL sent in welcome email.

Your control panel login URL for windows hosting account is :-

http://IP:8787/

Note : You can use the domain name in place of IP address if your domain name is registered with us and your nameservers have been properly pointed to the nameservers specified in the welcome email.

Login with the username and password sent to you in the welcome email. On top you will see email Icon on which you need to click to setup your email accounts. Create your mailbox with a specific password and assign 10000 Kb quota to your mailbox or keep it unlimited for comfort. Dont enable control panel login for that mailbox.

We’ve also sent FTP login details in welcome email so use those ftp login details and upload your webpages inside the httpdocs directory which will show when you login using FTP information. If you don’t have a FTP software then use following URL by changing username and password with those sent in the welcome email :-

ftp://username:password@IP/

Once all directories get listed then upload your contents inside httpdocs. If you wish to send or check emails then open following URL :-

http://IP/mewebmail/

Type your mailbox which you created and put respective password that you assigned. You can also configure your mailbox in outlook so take a look at outlook tutorials located in our support section at http://www.eukhost.com/support/

You may find things uncomfortable initially but you have to go through this steps to establish your web presence. We have 24×7 livechat and ticket support so feel free to contact our support team to help you. We will be there till you get comfortable with the control panel and put your website online.

ODBC connections?

Q. Do you allow ODBC connections from external sites to your mysql databases?

Ans. Remote database access can be enabled from your end for your MySQL databases. All you need to do is login into your control panel and add the IP to be allowed from access host in MySQL section of control panel.

The character % can be used a wildcard if you wish to connect to the MySQL server globally. By default only localhost is allowed to connect to the MySQL service.

MS SQL database space

Q. How is the space for MS SQL database divided? Can I get more MS SQL database space than the limit on shared hosting plans?

Ans. The size of MS SQL database space is divided into log file + data file. For example, if database space is 300 MB that is 150 MB data file plus 150MB log file.

The Disk space limit on each web hosting plan includes your web space, email space as well as database space. You will need to upgrade your hosting plan to next better plan if you need more space for databases, e-mail accounts or web quota.

MS SQL database space limit exceeded

Q. What happens if a MS SQL database space exceeds the limit, will the account get suspended or will the hosted application using database will work with errors?

Ans. We offer SQL Server 2005 Express edition, Standard edition, WorkGroup edition and Enterprise edition on our Windows web hosting plans. Database space is not allocated separately to each Windows hosting account. Space for databases is included within the allocated disk space to each Windows hosting account.

So if the database size of a particular account happens to exceed the space limit, that particular account won’t be suspended. The user might get some errors on the URL that might be using MS SQL databases along with email notifications informing them about the disk space usage limit which has exceeded.

Using MS Access database on windows hosting

Q. Would I be able to use an MS Access database instead of mysql or php on windows hosting packages?

Ans :- Microsoft Access (MS Access) database as well as Microsoft SQL (MS SQL) databases are supported on all our windows web hosting uk plans. You can add multiple databases under any of our windows hosting packages as per the limit prescribed for each of those plans. We also have MS SQL database size limitation on Windows Shared hosting and Windows Reseller hosting which is 400 MB for each database.

MS Access Database Fundamentals:-

Are you overpowered by the huge size of data that needs to be tracked in your company? Probably you are using a orthodox paper filing system, text based documents or a excel spreadsheet to track your mission critical data. If you are looking for a highly flexible data management system, a online database might be just what you are looking for.

A database is a well organized collection of information. A DBMS (database management system) such as Microsoft Access, Oracle, FileMaker Pro, MySQL Server or Microsoft SQL Server gives you the software tools that you need to manage data in a flexible manner. It includes various features which help you to add, modify or delete information or data from the database, you can ask questions (or queries) about the information stored in the database and generate reports analyzing selected content.

Microsoft Access provides users with most simplest and highly flexible DBMS solutions in the online database market today. Day to day users of Microsoft products prefer the simple Windows ‘look and feel’ as well as the simple integration with other Microsoft Office addon products. High volume of wizards reduce the complexity of administrative tasks and the all time present Microsoft Office Helper (you know it as the paper clip) is always available for those who like to use it. Before you purchase Microsoft Access, make sure that your computer or windows server meets the minimum system requirements suggested by Microsoft. To get started we will first go through 3 of the main components of Microsoft Access that many Microsoft Access database users will encounter – tables, queries and forms. Once we have completed that we will then look at the additional benefits of reports, web integration and SQL Server integration.

Tables comprise the most fundamental building blocks of any database. If you have previous experience of using spreadsheets, then you will feel very comfortable with Microsoft Access Database Management, setup and configuration.

A typical table in Microsoft Access database contains the employee information for the company — characteristics like name, pay package, date of birth and title. Simply Examine the construction of the database table and you will figure out that each column of the table corresponds to a particular employee characteristic. Each row will correspond to a specific employee and contain her or his information. That is all there in it! If it helps, just think of each of these tables as a typical spreadsheet style listing of information.

It is always recommended for the beginners to start with MS Access and management of Microsoft Access database is quite simple. You can easily convert your MS Access ( MDB ) database into a MSSQL ( sql ) database as and when your requirements grow in future. SQL to MDB export / import can be easily done using the tools embedded within the Microsoft Windows 2003 Server.

MS Access Database support is available on our Windows Shared hosting, Windows Reseller Hosting, Windows VPS Hosting, Windows Semi-Dedicated and Windows Dedicated Servers. Microsoft Access is also supported on our recently launched Windows Business Web hosting plans.
