    Windows 10 - Preview

Last week microsoft launched insider program that will allow pro users and tech admins to install and use (unfinished) windows 10. Microsoft skipped 9 to show that 10 is marginally different than expected v9 (lol).
You can try windows 10 by joining here
Windows Technical Preview - Microsoft Windows

P.S. it has keyloggers by microsoft to send statistics and user data for improvement of program. So better use it in vm with complete isolation (without internet).

    Enjoy!

I got a hangover as I’ve been drinking too much, but I am sure it’s October, right? I think April came a lot earlier for Microsoft to make April fool joke.

      Hi,

I just can’t understand one thing, why would Microsoft has decided to launch version 10 instead of 9. New version of Windows look like a box to me only colored boxed here and there.

There is a rumour it is because some enterprise applications check whether the version of Windows it is running on starts with 9, perhaps because the software cannot run on Windows 95 or Windows 98. If this rumour is true, then it suggests Microsoft is concerned about backwards compatibility and wants to avoid that problem by skipping Windows 9 altogether.

exactly. They are pushing it too hard to make universal platform os for all devices, instead of making desktop experience better. I bet it will come with same old firefox downloader (aka Internet Explorer)

I obviously need to point one factual thing to you all; start using Ubuntu if you dislike Windows or I’ve just built a very large brick wall with a window in middle; please feel free to bang your head on it

Actually, Microsoft kind of forgot about Windows 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 when they announced Windows 7 (well, they did forget Windows Me didn't they ). It's counted from Windows 95 onwards. Windows 10, on the other hand, well, yes .

I doubt they want to be on the same page as of Apple's MAC OS X (spelled as X, but actually version ten)?

Ben I think you're forgetting that Microsoft did have Windows 1.0, Windows 2.0, Windows 2.1x, Windows 3.0 & Windows 3.1x at an earlier stage Ref : Microsoft Windows - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In all sense Windows 10 is a total mixture of Windows 7 and Windows 8. They have tried hard to avoid all the mistakes they have done with Windows 8 which was mostly designed for tablets.Come back XP please - it does all normal people want.

I hated XP and used Windows 2000 for everything (except a handful of games) until W7 came out =) I found XP too flowery for me, by W7 I had to bite the bullet and deal with the chest pains with every silly fade affect etc that happened
