While a competitor is ascending the best thing to do is to procure that competitor. The proclamation concerning the Facebook Messenger and no obligation to have a Facebook account to use this messenger is a clear indication that social network Goliath is planning for it is future existence and it is making sure that no new social network David arise in the social network arena.

There are so many different strategies employed by businesses these days that it is difficult to understand the motive behind it. I think that competition is good to keep the business environment lively; my only concern is that it must be a healthy competition. One of the main reasons why Facebook acquired WhatsApp was because of the popularity WhatsApp gained; Facebook might have been threatened by the increase in the number of WhatsApp users so the best thing that it did was to acquire WhatsApp. Now with things under their control it is Facebooks’ turn to make strategies.

Facebook announced recently that now to use the Facebook Messenger it is not compulsory to have a Facebook account. If speculations are to be considered then this will create competition between the users already inclined to another messaging app, WhatsApp. What is thought-provoking is that WhatsApp is owned by Facebook, both messaging apps have parallel features including video, video calling, voice, group chats, sending photos and stickers. This new option that allows a non-Facebook user is currently available in Canada and U.S.A only but is soon expected to reach other countries. What do you have to say about this move of Facebook?
