Hey guys,
I've worked in online marketing for a while now, but always on the vendor side and I thought I wanted to throw my hat into the affiliate ring! I've moved countries and whilst I'm not working, now seems to be the perfect time...
So, my question is...
If you could give me your one tip to success in affiliate marketing/selling what would it be?
Hopefully all the tips might help other and more established affiliate marketers as well.

How much is "not much" of an investment? I have limited resources, but would also be interested in doing something like this. I know that ads can make you money, but I had heard that it wasn't very much....

It depends, but with affiliate marketing you wouldn't need to invest "that much", except you promote your affiliate links through PPC programs like Google Adwords or Bidvertiser.

A blog wherein you can explain the products and services about the company whom you are promoting, should prove helpful. With this you'd get the capability of promoting various pages over social networking and bookmarking site.

For setting up a blog you can opt for an affordable web hosting package that includes cPanel Softaculous. With it setting up a blog of your own would merely take 5 mins.

Apart from that, many affiliates use other mediums such as forum posting, blog commenting, social networking etc to promote their affiliate link.

Consistency seems to be an important ingredient in affiliate marketing. That would apply, in my opinion, to any form of online marketing. My belief is that many expect instant results and, when they don't get them, they lose their motivation. Understanding that everything takes time and that you are building a business can help keep you going until you begin to see results.

Creating your own blogs and websites for promoting affiliate products certainly helps a lot, however, I believe that its not compulsory to have blogs to promote affiliate products. Affiliate marketing can be done anywhere forums, social networking sites, article directories. If you know a few potential places where affiliate marketing could be done successfully, then you can earn lots of commissions without needing a blog or a website.
