    Re: SSL

    Hi Paul,

Most of the SSL certificates basically differ in the Underwritten Warranty, Issuance Speed and the Validation process. I have tried to explain the general differences between the different SSL types that we offer. Kindly go through the below points and let us know if you may need any further information or clarification.

Alpha SSL and Domain SSL are strong SSL certificates and yet affordable. Both the SSL types work with all modern web browsers and mobile devices. For additional guarantees, a website seal is offered with these certificates. You can reissue these SSL as many times as needed for as long as they are valid. The Domain SSL comes with SGC technology which offers additional level of guaranteed security for users who are using older version of web browsers.

Organizational SSL is mostly recommended for those who wish to offer an extra level of assurance to their customers about the identity of their business and protection of their website. with Organization SSL, your website visitors will see that your business is verified by SSL certificate issuer and this is a plus point as it increases the credibility of the business. This SSL is recommended for enterprise and e-commerce applications as it takes verification process one step further than the normal domain verification. So if you think itís important to show your business identity to your customers, then this SSL is for you.

Extended SSL: Although all the SSL certificates offer high level of security, Extended SSL offers one-step further in terms of trust and assurance. If you choose this certificate then your website visitors will see their address bar turning green with your organization name displayed. This improves the confidence of your potential customers in your website.

With any Wildcard SSL you can secure your main domain as well as sub-domains. No need to purchase dedicated IP for each sub-domain as only one certificate will be used. It means that, you can protect all the addresses of your website along with the main domain such as something.domain.com with just one certificate.

        Re: SSL

All SSLs are renewed on a yearly basis. You will get sufficient reminders from our system when the renewal will be due next year so you can rest assured

Once setup, all pages of your domain get https:// prefix instead of http://

          Re: SSL

          Ryan thanks.
So basically to get good browser support go for the The Domain SSL?
I currently have a dedicated IP on domain is this ok?
I assume i will need to update all http references in my old pages locally, then when https is effective upload all new pages to server and do an htaccess redirect from http to https for seo purposes.

            Re: SSL

Yep Domain SSL should be fine for your website. Dedicated IP that you have can be used for installation or the SSL can be installed even without a dedicated IP.

              Re: SSL

Right, SNI (Server Name Indication) support allows you to host multiple SSL certificates for different domains on the same IP address, just make sure you will enable SNI support while installing the SSL certificate.

                Re: SSL

                Hopefully Eukhost enables SNI
My confusion is on duplicate content as when ssl is activated the website will be accessible from http and https so my canonical and other internal links will have to remain as http until i am ready to redirect to https then i would need to update all the canonical links on pages, is that correct? Until i 301 redirect can pages be indexed in https if nothing points to https?

                  Re: SSL

Once SSL certificate is installed on the domain, it will most like automatically convert all your canonical links of the site to https when the site is accessed with htps://
If you are running any third-party application then you will need to manually make your canonical links to work with https:// else on accessing site with ssl, you might receive a popup indicating that not all links are secure on the site.

Hence we can recommend you to make changes to the URL once the SSL installation is completed.
