How much bandwith do I need?

Do I need a lot of bandwith for my forums? I have a forum with 900 registered members, and about 250 or 300 are active and posting. I am curious if I need to have a high amount of bandwith with one of the more expensive packages.

The amount of bandwidth required by the website depends on various factors such as the size of the website, the content of the website, the number of users browsing your website at a time, the time for which they remain on the website etc. Due to all these factors, it's very difficult to determine the exact amount of bandwidth required by the website.

I think you can go ahead and choose one of the hosting plans as per your web space and other requirements. The standard bandwidth offered with the hosting plan or server you choose should be fine or you can always upgrade your hosting plan or server for more bandwidth.

As it seems, you already have a forum live over the world wide web. IMO. you should check the current bandwidth that the site is using. This you can check in your control panel, if you don't use one, you may ask you web hosting provider to provide the details. Once you have a figure in hand, it would be easier to find a package that suits the forums requirements.

If you have been given a control panel by the current host, you can check the bandwidth usage through it and choose a hosting plan accordingly. However, if no such control panel is available, you will have to contact the hosting provider and ask for the bandwidth usage.
