Configuring Mac OS X Tiger Mail client for IMAP

If your IMAP mailboxes (Drafts, Sent, Spam, Trash) keep disappearing while using the Mail client for Mac OS X Tiger, the magic bit of information you need is to configure the
"IMAP Path Prefix" under Preferences > Accounts > PowWeb > Advanced. Enter "INBOX" in the "IMAP Path Prefix" box and your mailboxes will now work.

1.Preferences > Accounts (Account Name) >> Advanced preferences setting for the account, add INBOX to the IMAP Path Prefix.

2.Click the Use SSL checkbox if you want the secure connection.

    3. In the Account Information tab, make sure the Incoming Mail Server is mail.yourdomain.com.

4.Exit the preferences screen, and for each of the "Trash", "Draft", "Junk" and "Sent" folders (you may have to create one or more of these folders if they are missing on the IMAP server), highlight the folder and then click Mailbox > Use This Mailbox For, and then select the appropriate choice.

For example, highlight the Spam folder shown under the IMAP server and then click Mailbox > Use This Mailbox For > Junk.

That will let the Mail program know that the Spam folder on the IMAP account is where you want junk mail put (if you selected Store junk messages on the server in the Preferences > Accounts > (Account Name) > Mailbox Behaviors screen).

    Regards ,
    Kevin.
