Is cPanel better than DotNetPanel ?

Most people I've talked to have told me that cPanel is better than DotNetPanel as far as features and user-friendliness are concerned. I was tempted to get another 500 MB shared Windows package from eUKhost to host a myBB forum, but I'm still pondering what to choose... Should I get Linux Bronze or Windows Bronze? Is cPanel better than DotNetPanel?

I would recommend you to choose a Linux Bronze package. Linux hosting plans are offered with cPanel control panel which is indeed the best control panel available in the hosting industry. You will also get Softaculous auto-installer which will allow you to install MyBB on your website with a few simple clicks.

A Windows hosting plan will be an expensive option for you as compared to a Linux hosting plan. If your requirements are fulfilled with a Linux hosting plan, you should go ahead and choose it instead of spending more money on the Windows hosting plan. As far as I know, there is no auto-installer available with the Windows hosting plan and hence you will have to install MyBB on the website manually which is again a task.

Your forum will run fine on both Linux as well as Windows hosting however I would suggest Linux Hosting with cPanel as that would probably work best for your requirements.

To my experience, cPanel has nothing to do with the speed of a website. But yeah you definitely get an awesome interface to manage your hosting in a much easier way. You need not be a technically skilled person to manage your hosting account, with cPanel you'd be able to do just about anything that a webmaster would be able to do.

I have never tried using DotNetPanel but the cPanel looks very good to me. I'm already good in using cPanel because the controls and UI is easy to learn.

Can't say I have any experience of DotNetPanel but I've never had a problem with cPanel - its been doing what I need it to do with no fuss for years now .
