    Cloud Hosting vs dedicated hosting

I know Ive been asking a lot of questions about Cloud, but I just trying to fix on a hosting solution and want to know exactly about it before I place an order.

I wish to know the advantages of Cloud hosting over dedicated server hosting. I have few websites which I intend to host on cloud servers, but initially I'd test my forum website and only then look forward to hosting the others.
Now, security, performance and 100% uptime are my very basic requirements for that. But at the same time I also wish to try my hands on your cloud as well.

Actually, both are great solutions and both offer benefits in their own ways. IMO. the coolest advantage of Cloud hosting is its ability to provide instant scalability and flexibility.

That's absolutely correct, but in addition, with a reliable Cloud solution:
      • You only utilize the resources that you actually need. Plus, you have an option to adjust the resources without without the need to shut-down the server.
      • You are not required to pay for the unused resources.
      • Since cloud servers are nothing but virtual machines wherein multiple servers are placed in a clustered, in-case a server goes down, your website would still be up and accessible.

Recently, on other forums there's been a lot of discussion going about cloud hosting security. Besides its advantages, what would you like to say about the security provided in cloud hosting?

Yes, that's right. Despite the rising popularity of cloud server hosting, there are some concerns regarding cloud sollutions. The concern that arises first is about the security and safety of data itself. As we all know that clients shares the same hardware with other cloud hosting clients, much similar to the shared web hosting. Second major concern is the location where the data is stored. Because of the cloud hosting platform, you don't have any control on the data, that where it resides within the cloud.

The best essential way to protect your data is by bounding the perimeter around it to external threats that are trying to take your site down or trying to hack, using a web application firewall.

I've been reading about cloud security these days since most users around the globe are concerned about their data security and integrity in the cloud. To my knowledge (though much limited in terms of cloud security) security in a cloud can be achieved with logical separation and restriction of API calls. Though Im not much aware of its internal mechanism operations not aware of the types and techniques of logical separation etc. But, one thing I can say is that, there is a lot of hype about Cloud security concerns. Cloud can indeed be considered to be secure for hosting your website and data IMHO.

Cloud hosting and dedicated hosting have their own advantages; however sometimes it gets difficult to decide whether cloud hosting is right for your company or dedicated hosting. Check if your company favors the factors mentioned below:

                1. Dependent on web based technology heavily
                2. Limited investment for on-site hosting
                3. Planning to undergo heavy growth in the near future
If your answer is yes, then you must consider cloud hosting. The main benefit of cloud hosting is that you can host your website in any server with minimum investment. You can easily rent a server that can be scaled easily according to your requirements. eUKHost will also provide you with the flexibility of choosing the operating system that best suits your business. Whereas if you are a developed company that is heavily dependent on the web hosting services; and the necessary investment can be made, then dedicated server hosting is the right and the best option for you. The main advantage of investing in a dedicated server is that your critical business data is stored in a secured data center and your company does not have to spend anything on maintaining the hardware or securing the data. Hope this information is suitable in terms of selecting the appropriate hosting plan.

The main difference between cloud hosting and dedicated hosting is the cost effectiveness involved. In case of dedicated server hosting, you get access to a wide range of resources and you also have to pay for all of them whether or not you use them. However in case of cloud hosting, you have the access to various resources but you only have to pay for the resources that you have used.
