    Cloud Servers Faq's

I would like to get answers for the questions on cloud hosting...

What does the term "pay as you go" refers in Cloud hosting?

    What are scaling servers?

Is cloud server just like a virtual private server ?

Is root access provided in cloud server hosting?

How is the cloud hosting backup done?

What does the term "pay as you go" refers in Cloud hosting?
Recently, many of the web hosting providers have started the service pay as you go, this means you only have to pay for the service and resources you used during the period.

    What are scaling servers?
Do you mean to say scalable servers? Scalable servers are the one which can be upgrade or downgrade anytime upon the clients demand. It mean you can add resources such as RAM, Disk space, Bandwidth and CPU.

Is cloud server just like a virtual private servers?
Cloud Servers are just like the virtual private servers, the only difference between both of them is that cloud servers created by hardware virtualization process and virtual private servers are formed using software virtualization.

Is root access provided in cloud server hosting?
Yes, on cloud you get root access to the servers.

How is the cloud hosting backup done?
Yes, usually backups on cloud are done on a weekly basis separately on the SAN storage device which is attached to the clusters of cloud. In order to provide more redundancy the storage device is also equipped with the RAID 10. However, the clients can maintain their backups by going for the R1Soft offsite backup solutions and can schedule the backups according to their requirements.

I will try and give you some information about the difference between a Cloud server and a VPS.

Normal VPS's are based on Software virtualization technology in which multiple VPS's are created on a Single physical sever with the help of a Software virtualization application. The OS on these VPS's is installed through the OS templates and hence the OS is not full functional. The OS cannot be updated individually.

Cloud Servers are based on a Hardware virtualization technology in which a Cloud server is hosted on a cluster of servers with fully functional OS. In this Cloud server you can easily run OS and security updates. Cloud servers provides you high availability with better performance. When Cloud servers is compared to normal VPS, Cloud servers offer you greater reliability and scalability.

Cloud servers offers continuous availability of applications and data and provides more high-performance compare to the dedicated servers. As the servers are bind and creates a cluster of servers together it adds extreme processing power that increases the reliability of the server.
