    Hello danyboyj
I've had Pingdom checking my site for the last week - for the most part its been ok - until just recently
Glad to know about last week, today we had faced issue which might have caused problems to you but it is resolved now. Let us know if you still face problems.

    Hi EJ,
As I type this, I'm unable to monitor the status of eNlight, as I am getting no response from the server whatsoever - not good. I'll try a forced restart from the eUKHost client area.
(It's not my poxy broadband dropping issues, as other WHM and sites are responding fine.)
    Except I can't:
    "Error : Under Maintenance."
The Error is removed as it was under maintenance, please check if its fine for you as well.

      Hi,
Yes, it's back up now, though took about 30 mins to stabilise before being usable (or was that due to your influence of logging in? ). Thanks.
Response to client side requests looks good for now, I'll try to do some more application development work at some point, to tax it a little.

I'm wondering - would it be worthwhile creating a new VM and moving my sites onto that new build?

        Have you finished adjusting stuff?

Yeah, it will be good if you can move your server to new template

Whilst on the subject - is it possible to take a VM snapshot ?

Buidling Apache takes hours - would be nice to avoid that each time a VM is created.

Sorry but snapshot wont help as there are changes in OS. The tweaks are different on both.

I think you have already created the new VM ( pretty fast ), let us know if you want any help in migrations or give me the ticket ID if you have already placed it.

Oh - are you able to do that?

Essentially I want to copy the "main" VM (users / apache conf / PHP conf / mySQL DBs) onto the new "vm1".

I was going to do it manually (which would take me hours) - plus I would need to repoint my DNS.

If that can be done - I'd be grateful.

Yep, took me hours, the other day. A template with Suhosin, SOAP (plus a few other common modules) and CSF would be awesome but I suspect too focussed for a generic template - an option maybe?
Note: I didn't see any improvements, though Rishi has been donning the tin foil hat, to work his magic again.

Please send us a ticket about migrations mentioning your old VM IP and new VM IP. We will certainly do it for you and keep you updated in ticket about it. You will not face any downtime.

Though swap improved but your server needs more tweaks. On the infra side we would be shifting you to another storage if that helps.

I've noticed at 4am my VM will peak CPU + RAM

Then CPU will drop back down but the allocated RAM sits there - if I restart the VM RAM usage stays low for the day until next 4am.

Whatever is running at 4am - can it do some garbage collection so the RAM charges aren't twice what they should be?

I hope the migration is done. If you have any issues then feel free to revert on them.
The migration credit will be applied to you today upon your migration confirmation

Closed the ticket - migration was fine. All seems to be running well.

Just wondering what's running at 4am to spike the server - or more to the point, why the memory usage stays high?

                                Glancing at top:

PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
                                1807 named 19 0 171m 4704 1888 S 0.0 0.3 0:00.00 named
                                1999 mysql 15 0 151m 23m 4188 S 0.0 1.3 0:39.79 mysqld
                                31813 root 33 18 102m 14m 2592 S 0.0 0.8 0:00.21 cpanellogd

I turned off the nameserver service since I'm using the one from my domain registrar - can I kill named?
