  • Many browser extensions are suscpetible to malware attacks.

Extensions and Add-ons helps you to customize your Internet experience. However, many security holes more than 2000 are detected in extensions which can cause your Windows PC or Mac to be infected by malware. Some extensions are created using old platforms. The legitimate extensions are infected with the malware by bogus extensions. However, Firefox and other organizations are aware of the problem and are implementing a solution for this problem.

Malware can get into a Firefox extension with great ease. A hacker will create an extension that appears to be such that it will be used for good purpose.

Extension Malware isn't something to really worry about, as Mozilla check extensions for malware before allowing them to be downloaded and installed. You're likely to just get Adware from malicious extensions, nothing else. Malwarebytes will do a good job at preventing anything like this from being on your system.
Some malicious extensions can also reinstall themselves if you uninstall them, therefore you would have to find and delete the extension from your hard drive, or use an antivirus to remove it.
In one case, a malicious extension tested on a Windows 7 Virtual Machine hid itself in C:\Program Data\%Random%
