  • How to install telnet client on windows Vista or windows 7

    Hello Friends,

You can check ports are open or not on the server by telnet command from your local system.

You will need to install the telnet client on your local system to check it. By default telnet is not installed on Windows Vista and Windows 7 systems.

To enable Telnet on Windows Vista and Windows 7 systems, follow the below steps:

    1. Click Start then select Control Panel.
    2. Select Programs and Features.
    3. Select Turn Windows features on or off.
    4. Select the Telnet Client option.
    5. Click OK.
    6. A dialog box will appear to confirm installation. The telnet command should now be available.

Now open command prompt and hit the below command to check port connectivity with following command.

    Telnet (server IP) (port no.)

    Regards,
    Antonie J
