I'm used to Cute PDF Writer Free, which is pretty good (better than most alternatives), just installs as a Printer.

You can't actually convert an Excel file to PDF. What you can do is publish it to a pdf format. There are a number of programs available.

1. I you have Excel 2007, that will print/publish to pdf format.
2. Download one of many PDF printer drivers from the internet (google pdf printer driver). Many are free. You just install them and then from Excel print your file selecting the downloaded pdf printer driver as the printer. It will ask you for a filename and you just give it the name/location you want to save it in.
3. Buy a copy of Adobe Acrobat professional (quite expensive). That will allow you to create pdf files.
