Is VPS a right decision ?

I am running a website which is MySQL Driven, shared hosting is not enough to handle the traffic load as its growing day-by-day by 60-70 unique visitors consuming more n more MySQL usage.

Coming to the point, do I need a dedicated web hosting server or a 99.95% uptime virtual private server would function great ?

Another issue, that i am facing every two weeks is the DDoS Attacks. So, going for a VPS would be just fine and would I be able to prevent my site from such attacks on a VPS ?

IMO, you have made a right decision. Going for a dedicated server hosting after the shared hosting could be very costly. I would suggest you to opt either for a virtual private server or a cloud server.

Both are capable of handling high traffic sites and offers high availability and network uptime guarantee. A virtual private server is just like a dedicated web hosting server, which offers same features as a dedicated solution offers. You get root access to have full control over your dedicated environment and resources, flexibility to install custom software and applications, yet, at low cost. In VPS, you get an isolated environment, whereas in shared the server resources are shared between all the accounts setup on the server.

Cloud is an another option if you wish to have your own dedicated resources. It is a high availability solution, which ensures round the clock availability of your website. The cloud server offers 100% network uptime guarantee. The cloud servers are setup in a way that even if there is a failure of 1-2 servers in the cluster due to any reason, the cloud VM's will automatically migrate from one server to all other live servers without effecting your uptime.

      RE:

VPS web hosting plan certainly gives you some advantages and they are:

      * It endows you with a root access and with the aid of this; you can accomplish the installation and configuration of any program.
      * If it's about the virtual hosts provided by Apache, it is possible to host many websites.
      * Added to this, you also get an FTP server, a mail server, and any other server that you are in need of.
      * These are immensely helpful in order to store files or as backup or for something else.

Both the options are good in their own. But, I personally would recommend you to opt for cloud server first. If your hosting requirements increases in future, you can always upgrade your hosting plan to VPS or a Dedicated Web Server.

Since, my site is consuming more n more memory usage and creating memory issues on the current server, what if the memory is consumed more than the assigned ? Will I get my account suspended or will I be informed first ?

An automated Email would sent to you by Eukhost when you consume 80% of the allocated resources. After which, you can either stop the applications that are consuming the resources at such great pace or upgrade to a higher package. But, yes, if you take no action your account would indeed be suspended..

              hi

I think VPS server is the best for MySQL driven website. It's handle website very smoothly without any attacks.

Is VPS a right decision ?

Virtual private server, or VPS, represents the next generation of web hosting that revolves around partitioning a single computer to simulate multiple servers. The unique aspect is that each server has the look and feel of a physical server, equipped with its own operating system and the ability to be rebooted independently of others. Similar practices have actually been used in mainframe computers for some time, but the emergence of virtualization technology has pushed VPS hosting into the mainstream market as a cost efficient, high performance solution.
