Rename Domain option in plesk 11

Hello Tech's,

Can anyone tell me how to rename the domain name in plesk 11 ? We get the rename domain option in previous plesk version but i cant see it in plesk 11 !

Can anyone help me please ?

Hello Rhys,

You will not get the option " rename domain " in plesk 11 but by following the below steps you can surely rename the domain name in plesk 11.



Step-by-step instruction:

1. Login in Plesk control panel as admin user
2. Go to "Subscriptions" option in left menu of the control panel
3. Select the required subscription and click it on "Control Panel";
4. Then click to "Websites & Domains" tab in Control Panel;
5. Click to domain name at the bottom of page;
6. You will see your "Domain name *" field where you can change domain's name.
7. Click "OK" button.


By following this steps your domain name will be renamed

Hello Rhys,

I will suggest you to please take caution while renaming the domain name directly.
I did the same few days ago and all my databases and ftp user's were deleted as well as the files and folder's under the domain.
Please take necessary backups of the domain and then try to rename the domain.

Hello,

Instead of renaming the domain we can create a new domain and upload all the website content and databases, as after changing the domain name all the permissions and settings assign to the domains gets reset.

I guess the permission reset was only limited to plesk older version and it doesnt exists in the latest version of plesk. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Hi,

I haven't face the permission issue while rename domains in Plesk 11. But before rename the domain, please take the all files, databases backups on your local system as precautionary.

I hope it stays like that and doesnt causes permissions issues as permissions issue with earlier version of plesk was a big headache.

True Story!.

I did experience this situation with the permission on old plesk version which was 9.5, now I have plesk 11 not yet faced any permission issues like it was before.
