I've been reading here about trying to get domains that have expired, etc. and was just wondering, if there is a certain name you want and it is not available now, can you be put on a Waiting List so that if and when it does you can then purchase it? Or is this just not done?

This is for sure a possibility and its something we would like to address along with domain name suggestion tools, its certaintly something I have had in mind for a long time now. I will be discussing such with development team over next few weeks to implement them into our current systems.
With expired domains the domain will enter a redemption period of around 30 days, rather than the domain enter back as available. This will allow the current owner to be able to retrieve back the domain if required within the domain redemption period, but additional charges do occur. If after the 30 days the current owner has not made any payment to keep domain it will then be available to register

Would you really want to wait that long for a name? I would think that I would just as soon come up with a different name and get my site out there.Comment
