    What is Domain Name?

Hi, this is a rather basic question, but how would you define a domain name?

Do you want it in layman's terms or official will do?

A domain name is a unique name that identifies a website. A user accesses a site through a domain name. Domain names are used to make sites easier to remember. Domain names have two or more parts, separated by periods (dots). A domain name can be registered with ICANN affiliated web registrar or we can do that for you. A domain name needs to be renewed each year. Domain name is also known as URL or Web site address.

No, that's okay. Got it. Thanks.

A domain name is a text string that corresponds to a numeric IP address and is used to access a website using client software. A domain name is a text that a user types into a browser window to access a certain website in plain English. For example, Google's domain name is 'google.com.'

A website's true address is a complex numerical IP address, but thanks to DNS, users may type in human-friendly domain names and be directed to the websites they want. A DNS lookup is the term for this procedure.
