    .UK domain extension

    Hello,

Currently I have the co.uk and I've been reading about the .UK tld and that people will have to switch to the new tld.

Can someone guide me on this?

    Thanks in Advance

The extension means very little to the search engines the complete web address is only one of a number of factors that the search engines use to determine where your site shows in the results. You would have a slight benefit by using the .co.uk extension over the .com for searches made through the UK search engines.

You can ask your domain owner to do so. He can easily convert your domain from co.uk to .uk. In fact domain owners already support for this change. Persons who don't want to change, they can simply keep the domain name same as before.

    Hello,

The new .UK tld will be available for registration soon and the owners of the .co.uk domain would be be given priority in switching to the shorter version of their domain name which is .UK.

Those who do not wish to change their domain names may not do so. Domain owners have a period of five years within which they can claim the .UK version of their .co.uk domain name.

You can read more about it here: Get ready for .UK Domains, coming to eUKhost soon!
