    Hi,

Updating nameservers is simple. Just log into your domain's control panel, paste the nameservers and click on "Update". This normally results into a downtime of approximately 12/24 hours.

The procedure of transferring a domain depends upon the domain's extension. Can you advise if the domain is .com,.co.uk, .org, etc.

    Kind Regards
    Suzanne Jones.

      Hello,

Talking about extension of the domain, the most commonly used extensions are .com and .co.uk

Both the extension have different transfer processes, you can follow the below instructions ::

For a .com domain EPP code (Authorization Code) is required which can be provided by the loosing registrar and hence the transfer is initiated by the gaining registrar. An approval email is sent to the registrant contact email address which should be approved in order to complete the transfer. This requires approximately 5-7 business days.

For a .co.uk domain IPS Tag is required which can be provided by the gaining registrar. This needs to be updated at the loosing registrar's end and hence a transfer is processed. This process takes approximately 24 hours.

      Hope that helps.

        Hi Gnome,

You can transfer any number of domain names to our registry and host them on any of our web hosting plans. In the case of .co.uk domains transfer, you will have to change the IPS TAG or ask your domain registrar to change the IPS tag of your domain name. The tag needs to be pointed to EUKHOST to get the domains transferred to our registry.

In case of .com, . domains transfer, you will need to provide us the EPP key for the domain name for us to initiate the transfer process. You will get the EPP key from your current domain registrar. You can contact him and ask for the EPP key of your domain.

If you do not wish to pay domain transfer charges, you can also keep your domain registered with the current domain registrar and just ask your current registrar to update the nameservers of your domain.
You will receive our nameservers in the welcome email once your hosting account is activated.

        IPSTAG
Once you fill in the domain transfer request and make the payment for domain transfer, you will receive the IPSTAG and you need to update it with the current domain registrar. You may get in touch with our billing team, they will assist you with the further process for free as a part of our fully managed services.

        Regards,

          Updating DNS

Updating the name servers is a much easier process, you just need to update the DNS provided by your host at the domain registrars end who has control over your domain. Its not mandatory to have your domain and hosting package under the same roof meaning the domain can be registered with any registrar and the hosting package can be with any other provider. There are millions of servers on the internet each having a different set of nameservers (IP's) so it would have been very difficult for the domain to recognize the server its data is sitting on so by updating your hosting providers nameservers the domain knows where exactly to fetch the website data and emails.

Regarding domain transfer it totally depends on the domain extension you wish to transfer as explained above.
