Reseller hosting is something wherein the account owner has the ability to use allotted hard drive use to host third party websites.

I think re-seller hosting is more to do with who has control over the hosting. If all you are going to do is host sites for third parties, but don't intend to give the 3rd parties control of the sites, you don't need re-seller hosting. Re-seller hosting provides you with the ability to pass on control of the site to the 3rd party.

Before you go to the expense of a re-seller account, you can host multiple domains on 1 shared account. The number is limited on a Windows account, but unlimited on a Linux account.

The advantage that a re-seller account gives you is that you can set up different access permissions / passwords etc. for each domain, which I don't believe you can do on a single shared account.

But if, as Technut did, you will want to start hosting other people's sites, go for the re-seller account.

There are more reasons to setup multiple sites on a reseller site than meets the eye .... take email accounts. Let me see you make a email account specific to the URL of each website on a shared account. Not a chance... or how about auto responders, or spam assassin setups on every email account or a database for each site..... I'd go crazy trying to keep multiply accounts on a singe shared site. Need I go on. There is a world of difference from 1 shared website to unlimited account reseller hosting. Added expense, please... who cant afford $4.95 a month, its a real bargain.

Now that is a good move. That is what we did back in 1996 so we could manage our own sites and our own situation and not have some others (back in the day) tell us what we could or could not do with our own websites, email accounts and so on. 2 years later we had many friends and friends of friends with non-profits and business's come to us for server space... With the web hosting business arena already so competitive for the established hosts and saturated for the new ones these days, I don't think it can earn lucrative profits to resellers so soon. It would take lot of efforts, dedication and time to build a client base first and then the profits would come in gradually.
