    Hosting my own server

Since, the price of dedicated servers are getting higher, in such case, What are the things usually required to host a server at my own house ? Is it a really hard task ?

IMO, you'd be better off renting a dedicated server than hosting a server at your own house. Hosting a server at home could possibly end up being more expensive than renting a dedicated server and it also demands much knowledge and time to manage it.

If you are just doing this for a hobby or wanting to learn, then something like this might be okay to try, but if you are looking at growing your site, and having a fast, reliable connection for your users, then I would suggest not going this route.

It would become a liability to be honest. For running a dedicated server at home, you need to have redundant network and power connectivity, where even if one of the network providers goes down, your server would still be able to serve the requests. Its rightly said by Ryan, running a dedicated server at your home and on your own would prove to be more expensive than renting it from a web hosting provider.

well it would be really hard for you. As said Ryan & Matt, you need a lot of resources and investment for your own setup and above all, it would be a tough challenge for you to manage the server, other resources and your site. And i dont think you can afford hiring of some professionals to run all this setup so its quite easy and simple way to look for a good web hosting company which can manage the things in a professional way

Compare to running a server from home there are much more advantages of renting a dedicated server in a data center such as there will be less noise and heat at your home. You will get the desired bandwidth and you can increase it whenever required. You don't have to be worried about the server management and maintenance as it will be held by the web hosting experts. You don't have to depend on the reliability of your Internet service provider.

I can't imagine how much time, work and cost it takes to manage your own server. I would let the pros do that. It's easier and cheaper for me.

I knew a person who tried to host his own server at home, but he eventually gave up after a couple of months. It wasn't worth it.

I agree with Ryan - it eventually ends up being more expensive than renting one of eUKhost's dedicated servers. Also, even if you do have the knowledge manage it, you will be overwhelmed by the ammount of resources needed.
