    Windows Hosting or Linux

I have been using Linux hosting. It is one of the best platforms for easy management and handy operations. However, I would like to try Windows + Plesk configurations.
Please let me know if it is manageable like Linux.Plus let me know if it is secure from spam, suspicious activity as I didn't face any in Linux one. Any great opinions are accepted

Linux hosting is best for the server side. Windows hosting have limited features as compared to linux based web hosting. In Linux the cPanel is easy and user friendly for all. Most of the users you see running websites are mostly prefer Linux hosting over Windows.

Windows hosting any given day as that is what I have been using since a long time. Obviously, Linux is more secure but there is a learning curve involved.

The reason Linux gets the upper hand is because it is open source and when someone has found a patch then he will distribute it within the community so everyone can be aware of it. For Windows, you are at the mercy of Microsoft

Many people I know think Windows hosting is much simpler than Linux. It is easier to manage in their opinion. Maybe, you will face some learning curve when moving from Linux, otherwise, it is more simpler than Linux as in Linux as desktop OS and Windows. Many enterprise customers depend on Windows hosting for various needs.

It depends upon what is your application requirement. If your application is friendly to both. I would recommend Linux first. but if your application is Windows friendly. Looks to have control panel like plesk with Windows.

Most web hosting service providers provide two kinds of hosting-
              Linux hosting
              Windows hosting
In general, Linux hosting refers to shared hosting, the most popular hosting service. Many websites nowadays are hosted on Linux hosting due to its affordable pricing and its flexibility. It is compatible with PHP and MySQL which supports scripts like WordPress & many more. While, on the other hand, Windows hosting uses windows as the servers and offers windows specific technologies such as ASP, .NET & Microsoft access.

Now there is a question which arises that If my PC runs windows then you have to use windows hosting?
The answer is NO. The type of hosting you select has nothing to do with the operating system your PC runs.

              Which hosting you should select?
These two hosting service offers you the same level of proficiency. So the hosting you select is majorly depends on your type of technology your website needs.
For eg- if you starting a blogging website then the Linux website is best for it, however, if your website requires specific Microsoft technologies then you should use windows hosting service.

These two hosting offers the same level of proficiency. So the hosting service you select significantly depends on technologies that your website needs. Linux is an open-source system. So most of the sites are now hosted on Linux Server due to its affordable price and flexibility. Linux servers and software can be easily modified, and you don't have to wait for a new version.

Windows servers and software generally have more features than open-source. Windows servers come with a Remote Desktop, which is a more natural way to manage a server. These frameworks, such as ASP and ASP.Net, are easier to install and operate and have better support than Linux scripting frameworks.

Both have pros and cons so you can select according to your requirements.

The big debate on the World Wide Web has got to be which operating system makes the better server: Windows or Linux? Large arguments have arisen from trying to determine what each is able to do and the way each sends a website over the internet. Carefully look at both operating systems before making a decision.

Windows hosting or Linux hosting, which is better? That is the debate going on currently on the World Wide Web, which operating system makes the better server?

Differences between Linux and Windows hosting.

                  » Price

Linux holds an edge due to the fact that most of the software we use is open source and that it's less cost to maintain Linux servers than Windows servers for the same level of service.

                  » Your computer

One of the biggest misconceptions is that you have to run Linux on your local computer in order for you to host your website on a Linux platform. Which operating system you run on your computer is irrelevant to what you need for your website. This means, if you are running Windows 98, Windows XP, Windows® 2000 or using an Apple Macintosh, you can still choose Linux or Windows as your hosting platform.

                  » Security

Many people argue that Linux servers has less vulnerabilities than Windows servers. But the reality is, out of the box, neither Linux or Windows is very secure for Internet use. HostW3 makes numerous modifications, removes unnecessary components and updates software to ensure that both platforms are secure. We also continue to maintain our servers with the latest security and performance patches.

                  » The Bottom Line

The differences between the operating systems is much less than you might think. We would recommend choosing the plan that has the options you want, rather than worrying about what operating system they are running on.

The biggest difference of the two is the purpose they are going to be used for. Linux hosting platform is best for the traditional websites with graphics, texts, ecommerce, etc.) Windows hosting platform can handle the more detailed, interactive characteristics.
