      Hello,

In unmanaged VPS hosting, you unable to install applications neither you will receive any support for the software. Moreover, if you try to install any security patches, you will encounter error messages, and then you will be responsible for everything that goes wrong with your OS. Numerous unmanaged hosting providers don't even provide you with the control panel access, it will be up to you how to manage your website.
Whereas in managed VPS hosting, you can install applications as well as get security from your web hosting provider. Also, you get the control panel access to manage your website database.

              Hello,

In managed web hosting services, you don't have to worry about server management. Your web hosting provider will take care of this. But in unmanaged web hosting services, you have to be responsible to do all the server related tasks. This service is good for those who have handy knowledge about server and control panel management.
So, you decide which one is good for you.

Yes, you are right Jamie. I would prefer managed web hosting service for those who have just started their server management journey.

                  Managed VPS

With managed VPS hosting, the more costly option of the two, don't think that more expense is going to waste.

When you pay the decided upon price for Managed VPS that covers all. Management, monitoring, repairs, skilled service and infrastructure are all concealed. This makes it a completely appealing select for those out there that maybe do not know much about servers, those who would rather not be bothered with it all or those uncertain if their limited technical know-how will help them in a bind.

                  Unmanaged VPS

This is the low-price option you don't really want to entertain unless you have the technical know-how, knowledge, and time to fuss with your own server. For those developing real-time systems and/or who have complete knowledge of UNIX as well as the time to configure, set up, and fix issues that may arise, an unmanaged VPS server is perhaps your best option and much less expensive to boot. It pays to have the know-how.

When deciding for yourself or your business whether to go with a managed or unmanaged VPS, keep in mind what we've mentioned above: unmanaged VPS if you're looking to save some money and have the technical know-how to handle all issues and configuration, managed VPS for convenience and expert help a few calls or clicks away. Usually I recommend to individuals a managed VPS. Though the price may be a little higher, the benefit of letting someone else fuss over issues, performance, configuration, etc. is worth the added expense.
