    Wordpress hosting and shared hosting

Many providers offer wordpress hosting as a different package. What is so different about it?

Any shared hosting users can also install wordpress and have a wordpress website.

What makes wordpress hosting different from basic web hosting?

Yes, both the packages are almost similar to each other except for few terms, which I've listed below:

WordPress ready hosting packages are crafted or designed only for hosting WordPress sites & nothing else. All the additional non-wordpress related features are removed from these packages. WordPress ready hosting packages are bundled with auto-install, one-click-install, new WordPress updates are made available within 24 hours. Disk storage, monthly data transfer & number of sub domains, addon domains are set to an optimum level so they suit & meet to Wordpress requirements such that customers can take complete advantage & make out 100% of the hosting package.. Additionally themes & plugins are also bundled based on the requirements or as per the package. More importantly, the servers which have such WordPress ready hosting packages are specially configured keeping security in mind. They are well maintained & kept hack proof any attacks which are intentionally targeted towards WordPress sites..

Hosting companies are like Cake Shops in town, everybody tries to sell their Cakes with a something special ingredient, but base always remains same. So the choice is yours.

That makes things clearer. So its basically a special arrangement for WordPress sites.

To add further to the information shared by Rock, basis our observations and experiences from the past, we've had multiple occurrences where only because we do not offer a dedicated WordPress hosting solution, they'd simply walk away. Though this wasn't an issue with enquirers that had some knowledge about hosting, but people who were completely new couldn't really understand it despite us helping them with facts. People would usually think that we were trying to convince then inorder to generate a sale, which wasn't the case at all. Therefore, we've decided to build a page that specifically features WordPress hosting, which should be uploaded to the website soon.

Re: Wordpress hosting and shared hosting

With shared hosting services you can have your WP site at your own domain name. You can also take benefit of other features offered by a web hosting service which may not be provided by WordPress.com as a free service.

I think Wordpress can effectively be set up on a VPS. There's just too much problems when setting it up on a shared folder.

Cut the cake, lick the special ingredients and enjoy the base .. haha
The base is what makes difference, freelancers like me are more concerned about the level of service.

Clear as crystal info provided by Rocky, your rock mate!

Generally, different web hosting companies give different benefits to their clients. The case is not any different when it comes to Network Solutions shared hosting. There are particular benefits that are unique to the services offered here, and although the shared hosting is not as benefits-packed as the dedicated hosting, there are plenty of benefits that you need to watch out for if you are planning to take up shared hosting with Network Solutions.

Following are the explanations why I praise shared hosting for new blogs:

                          · At the start your website may not have heavy traffic.

                          · Shared hosting prices less than that of dedicated and VPS hosting.

                          · Most startups are simply handled by shared hosting.

Many people don't choose shared hosting because they consider that shared hosting affects search engine ranking of the website. But it's a myth.

The only thing that you need to concentrate while picking your hosting options is that it meets your requirements properly. It si simple. You just need to ensure that your web hosting services provider has required bandwidth and storage space to meet your requirements. Since you may never envisage how big your blog may get and start receiving massive volume of traffic, it is imperative to ensure that your server is competent enough of coping up with the ever-increasing traffic. The best way to ensuring this is having meetings with your web hosting company before availing their services. Check their credibility and records regarding uptime vs. downtime sessions. Also, try to obtain information from their previous clients to know exactly how they respond to queries.

Check their services in terms of auto installation of upgrades and features. Provision of proper software such as PHP, MySQL, and Apache server required for WordPress hosting is another important thing that one must get assured of.

There are numerous factors to deliberate on prior to enter into a web host contract. For me, performance and round-the-clock technical support are two most significant factors.
