The lazy way to increasing Adsense earning :D

I used to update my blog regularly by posting new content every two or three days. But it has been 20 days since the last time I updated the blog. What is strange is that I notice a dramatic increase in my Adsense earning from the blog in the last 20 days or so.

It seems that you website wasn't been crawled by Google bots for some time due to some reason and hence it was not ranked in the search results due to which you did not receive a good amount of traffic for some time. After you stopped updating the website, Google bots must have crawled your website and have ranked them in search results due to which you received good amount of traffic and more clicks

What happened to your blog is strange, but Catherine's explanation makes a lot of sense. In another forum, I read that a blogger has a blog whose older posts (posted around two years ago) receive the most traffic from search engines.

That is interesting. I can just think that it takes time for search engines to crawl, index and rank your new content. So, I doubt that the increase of your Adsense earning is due to you not updating the blog.

Maybe one of your older posts concerned a topic that has recently come into attention again. This happens sometimes. Various subjects spring up again after being forgotten for a while.

          Catherine's explanation is plausible too.

That is interesting, but I think all said above makes sense. Though, I hope it doesn't keep you from updating your website regularly. Keeping your website updated is always good for your SEO effort.

I would still recommend updating your website regularly. The higher adsense earnings and the lack of updates will just be coincidence. Sites usually get ever declining visitor numbers if they remain not updated. Very few websites are an exception to this rule .

I agree with all of you. It probably just took time for your website to get searched by the crawlers on Google and if you continue to update your website then you should continue to get a steady flow of income. Good Luck!

I agree with DPS, it might be just coincidence. Updating your website regularly is a proven way of increasing the website ranking and driving more traffic to the website.

A particular ad could also account for increased Adsense earnings. Ads that have text that's very specific to the content on your website can have higher clickthrough rates. Bids vary so much, too. Maybe you got lucky and someone with ads matched to your site is spending a lot on their Adwords campaign.
