    Hi there,

I was wondering can any of the e-commerce options available run multiple shops (like etsy)?

    TIA

Hi Jackie! Good to see you back!! You can host multiple shops or stores by using OsCommerce or Magento or Prestashop..

Prestahop has an integrated multi-store option now, osCommerce would require a contribution add-on and I don't know about the heavyweight Magento ('cos would need to sell a fortune to justify its' overhead ).

I agree with you completely EJ! Magento based sites are recommended to run on dedicated machines with ample of hardware resources..

Magento looked good but as I have shared server can't edit the php.ini and don't have enough allocated memory, checking out Prestashop now

PrestaShop is also one of the good option.
If you want to use Magento, We can allocate the php memory recommended by magento for your account, please contact us on the live chat / ticket for this.
We will like to help you for this.

I don't recommend Magento for you (I guess I was too subtle, though Rock got the gist). I wouldn't consider running it on my super (when it has power/discs ) vmware VPS Cloud, unless substantially upgraded, let alone a shared server. You might consider trying it on eNlight, if you don't mind paying for the extra 'oomph' that would be needed.
Much better to stick with a lighter weight alternative, IMHO.
