  • Regular MySQL backups

I'll be needing to run regular backups on a mission critical mysql database. When I say regular, I mean every 60 mins or so.

Obviously I dont want a full backup each time (too resource intensive), but what options are there? Replication, rsync, etc...

    Any advice greatly appreciated.

You could create a cron job, which runs every sixty minutes. Have at this thread for some examples.

Yeah, you will see that I am one of the contributors to that thread.

Problem is that if a database is a few GB's, then running a dump every 60 mins could cause the server to become very unresponsive to end users.

rsync backup would be the best option in this case.

You will need to take help of our support staff if you wish to configure rsync incremental backups. We will make multiple directories which will hold backups for 24 hours of day and your 23 hour old backup will be overwritten every 24 hours.
