Problem: Digg article replaced my website in Google!

Hi, I've recently started an attempt to improve my friends websites standings in search engines and have come across a problem.

I wrote a Digg article for the launch of the website and that Digg entry has now replaced the website in Google.

To view the website in Google, I now have to view the omitted results, which is obviously not ideal.

Is there a solution to this problem?

    Many thanks

This is actually seen quite often in Google's search results. Social networking websites like Digg have a lot of value in search engines due to the content they have. Therefore, if you submit the website content in this kind of websites, Google will fetch the content from these websites and will give it more priority. The only thing you can do now is increase the quality content of the website and get more backlinks to it so that it ranks again in the search engines.

This seems quite unusual to me. I mean, if the Digg article has a backlink to your friend's website, and the keywords are the same, then it's not Digg that should appear first.

As for the fact that your friend's website appears in the omitted results, I can only assume that Google may have penalized your site for some reason...

Just another example of the bigger dog taking the smaller one out. I see it tons too, within a day or so the results are gone. A buddy of mine runs a website based around IT news and between Digg and Gizmodo he has his storied swapped over every week.
I took a long vacation but I'm back!
