Video blogging?

I agree that video blogging wouldn't help much to improve your website ranking. Video blogging is more about traffic than page ranking. But who would need good page ranking if your website got millions of visits daily?

It can't be the only tool you utilize to improve your ranking, but it helps. Make certain that you provide links and incentives to get people to visit your site. YouTube is actually a great option since it is the second largest "search engine" in use today. That means a well-titled video should get decent views. Your next job is to improve the click-through from video to website!

A video blogging site could attract visitors, indeed, but you need to optimize it by using relevant keywords for each video. Search engines need keywords to index websites. It would be nice if they could build a crawler that could detect videos, but they have yet to come up with something like that. I heard that Google was working on an image recognition search tool, but nothing about videos so far...

Having a video tutorial can sometimes be more beneficial as people tend to relate better to the task in hand. Hence are able to better sort things. But IMO. having a combination of videos and its excerpt in an article can be useful as both the types of viewers can find it useful.

Videos alone won't help you to get good rankings for your website in search engines. I think videos can make a difference to your website rankings if you have a proper explanation about those videos in text and it's a unique content. I had noticed a website which did not have good quality videos but good rankings as the content explaining the videos was good enough.

Well, videos on your website won't help you much to get good rankings on the search engines, however, it will definitely attract visitors on your website. Some of the visitors still prefer to watch videos and understand things than reading it. Therefore, video blogging can help you to get more visitors on your website.

Video blogging is gaining huge momentum today. I just read on Wikipedia that Natalie Tran, one of the most popular video bloggers on Youtube, has more than 920,000 subscribers and her videos have got more than 350 million views so far. Wow!

If you have the time to do it yes it can matter For me personally I hate photos being take so the idea of sitting there watching myself talk to myself would drive me nuts. Oddly I do love watching some clips from random vbloggers, some people talk better than they type and it still comes out natural.

It depends what type of video blogging you are referring to. The most popular video blogging platform nowadays is YouTube itself. For the last five years, YouTube, practically, has invented the "vlogging" phenomenon.
However, some people have decided to stop using YouTube (or other video streaming sites such as Metacafe, Vimeo etc.) for video blogging, and instead create their own websites from where to stream the videos. This requires more dedication than a regular blogging job, because you need to film and edit a video regularly in order to keep your visitors interested. And, unlike regular blogging (where an article can be edited online as many times as you want), you can't edit the video after you've uploaded it to the server.
