How do we increase our Google rankings?

Our longest running website has a homepage ranking of PR4. The whole site consists of approximately 9000 pages which cover our products and accessories. Could you advise as how we can get a ranking here or do we simply have too many pages?

IMO. a proper on-page optimization should help you increase the rankings in Google. Moreover, the number of pages should cause you any harm provided you do not have spammy links over them.

Also, you may try implementing a good internal linking structure for your website. That should work really well if done correctly.

If you intend to see an increase in PR, you need to build one-way do-follow backlinks from authoritative websites. Avoid building those only for the index page, rather you should have a good distribution of links to all your internal pages as much as possible.

Are you sure your webite has 9000 pages ? If yes, I think your website has too many pages. It won't be possible for you to gain backlinks for each and every page. Therefore, it's better to get backlinks for main pages only. For example, if you have some pages for categories and to provide information about your website, you can try and get backlinks for these pages.
