    Shortened links and SEO

A thread about shortening links here makes me curious about one thing. So, do you think shortening the link to your website wouldn't work against your SEO effort?

People get their links shortened not for SEO reasons. They do it because some social networking sites like Twitter limit the number of characters the posts they write consist of.

I think so. Getting traffic is the main reason someone shares a shortened link on social networking websites and other places. I notice that now internet marketers prefer to share shortened links instead of real links in the email they send to their subscribers.

New, I notice the same thing as well. I think the marketers don't want their subscribers see the real links, which actually are affiliate links. I think it becomes a common practice now.

            Hello~!!
Shortened links are convenient to use and are required on site like Twitter where characters are restricted.

Shortened links can be tweeted and retweeted may be shared more often.

If they are 301 re-directs they can pass PageRank
