If you produce unique and quality content there are more chances to get quality backlinks from targeted sites in natural way. I think this is one of the legal way to build backlinks.

That's right. Adding content that folks want to link to is the ticket. If you can create link bait - viral content that is passed from friend to friend - they'll do the link building for you. But there's no harm in finding out where your customers hang out and post in those blogs, forums, and social networks.

The backlinks from your own domain can also help you a lot. The inner linking also plays an important role in link popularity. Inner linking to the page which is previously popular can definitely help you to boost your newly created pages. Inner linking structure will surely get you something more.

Optimizing your existing backlinks can be the good solution aswell. You may be having good number of backlinks and they are not used to their full potential. As a example, a certain site may be linking to you through image of your site logo ( with no alt text or image title). You may be listing on a great page but it would be a straight url link instead of a descriptive text link. Its surely worthwhile to hurt down all the links you would like to change and then actually work towards getting them changed. Even if only 2 or 3 sites comply with your request, that's 2 or 3 great links that just got better.

Backlinks are not exactly easy to come by thought, therefore i want to squeeze every last drop of potential benifits from the one i will manage to get.

Definitely it is not easy to get backlinks. You need to have Quality Content of your site. All the content shall be unique. This will definitely help you getting quality backlinks which will be more than helpful for you instead of getting more backlinks with low PR.

Certainly, if you get Baclinks from quality websites which have good rankings in the Search engines, your website will also get good rankings in the Search engines. However, getting backlinks from quality content websites is not an easy task and it can take a long time get those backlinks.

Comment in blogs which has content related with yours is another way to have back links to your site. But don't spam it, no one want spam on one's site.

Just commenting on other's blogs doesn't necessarily ensure a constant flow of backlinks. Majority of blogs have no follow plugin installed for all external links. Also it becomes quite apparent if someone just posts comments on various blogs and topics just for the sake of getting backlinks, such comments do not get approved at all.

Yes, that's right. But even it's nofollow but visitors (real people) still can follow to your site. I didn't mean that it's the best way, just another alternative to promote your site. If you have create something useful on the Internet, why wouldn't share it?

For spam, I don't like it either. I have a blog and I have to monitor many comments a day. It's waste my time, really hate it.

There are some Blogs on the Internet which allow you to comment and leave your link but make sure that the Comment is a genuine one otherwise it will be deleted and you won't get a backlink.

Very true. If you are getting an opportunity to enter your link then you should take care while utilizing it. Otherwise, if you are careless and you put any comment which is not acceptable, you might be banned and not get any access to put the link. Also, if you have placed the link then make sure your site is attractive (have quality content).
