you should optimize for the keyword density of 3-5 %, this is to be at the safer side, You can keep at most 7 % of the keyword density, don't try to increase the keyword density

It is important to make sure that your website is well optimized for the main keywords from the niche of your website and once your website is well optimized for these keywords, you can start optimizing your website for keywords which are rarely used so that you can get good rankings for them too

Theres so much incorrect info floating round in this section.

There isnt necessairly a limit for keyword density.. at least not that you'll hit unless you were REALLY trying.. its a bit of a myth.
I've been up to 20% before on a site (through the fault of the site owner) and you dont trigger some mythical penalty filter. It's entirely possible that a website can go to 20% legitimately. Take for example e-commerce sites selling ladders, where the product and category terms consist of your main keyterm. Add a bundle of infoboxes and an elaborate front page full of product offers and highlights, and you suddenly have a huge kw density percentage that wont trigger an alert or filter.

However, couple this with proximity, and yes, you may well find yourself on the end of a filter.

There is no point in keyword stuffing as you will never get the desired results. If you are reading a text and if some words appear again and again, its not good to see it right. Its better if the flow of the text is normal. Moreover Google also does not favor keyword stuffing. The basic idea must be providing value to the users. Preferably you can use keyword variation instead of keyword stuffing.

              Re: Keyword Density?

Keyword Density is difficult to quantify! If you had an article with 1000 words of text and your keyword appears on that page 10 times, then your keyword density is 1 percent. I canít honestly tell you that there is a secret percentage or ratio. I will mention that a conservative percentage would be anywhere between 2 and 4 %, not to exceed 7%.
One thing to know is that if you donít have enough keyword density, your site ranking will suffer, if you have too much keyword density, your site rankings suffer.
Keep in mind, if you focus too much on Keyword Density, you may have a tendency to write content which people may not be interested in reading or linking to.

                Re: Keyword Density?

Keyword density should be 5% for any website as compared to all the words presented on a particular webpage. Keyword density comes under gray hat SEO technique. Never use more than 5% keywords to your website otherwise it comes under keyword stuffing that is a black hat SEO technique.
