Does Google reindex site if IP address changes ?

I am not too sure about the website hosting re-indexing after the change of IP address but it should not cause any problems in terms of SEO. There are issues to be considered, such as quality and location of service and timing of move, but beyond that a move in hosting a website hosting should not make any difference.

IMO it is only the IP address that is changing and not the content of the website hosting,so what's the confusion all about.
If you maintain your backlinks changing IP address will have some impact on your ranking in Google but not on the indexed pages.
If you don’t change the domain name and only change the IP address then there is a very little impact on rankings or traffic.
Also most of the search engines index by domain name, not IP address.
What I could suggest is that you can copy the website hosting to the new IP address. After doing this you should notify your domain name registrar about the new IP address. Within 2-3 days your domain name points to the new IP address and the traffic starts following. When the new IP percolates through the DNS servers and caches you can take the old website hosting down.

Yes I agree with Dave. The content of the website hosting is what is important and not the IP address. It’s the domain name that matters. So as long as you change the IP address I don't think that should make a lot of difference for the search engine crawlers as the domain name will remain the same.

There is no problem at all if you dont change the domain name. If you do so then, the links which were submitted in directories and other website hostings would be of no use. It doesn't matter if you change the IP Adress. The only thing you should remember is, you should not change your domain name.Thats it.

This happens differently in various scenarios as moving the hosts doesn’t make Google to again re-index the pages and also will not affect the rankings. Yea if you move the website hosting many times it may elevate some kind of problems though. Also if you happen to move to another country then the rankings are likely to change. The Google bots task in general cases is to recognize the domain name and not the IP address for indexing principles.

As long as the content and URL stays the same it will keep the index. IPs change all the time its not important for a search engine to know as the users and the indexing is done on a domain basis.

The only possible reason for loggin an IP would be PR hyjacking where a user gets a good pagerank on a certain page and URL then dumps it and replaces it with something else in order to get top rankings for other pages and keywords.

If Google reindexed web pages after their IPs changed then everyone would have purchased their dedicated IPs directly from Arin. You leave a hosting company or a server and carry your IP along with you.

Luckily this is not the case as the algorithm gives no priority to the IP address. IP address is just used to categorize website hostings to respective countries. UK domains are categorized as UK website hostings no matter where the website hostings are hosted but in case of .com domains you need to host them on UK based servers to get better ranking for UK search.

.co.uk, .uk.com, .uk.org, .uk.net, .me.uk domains can be hosted anywhere in the world as they get categorized as UK domains by search engines and you get better ranking in UK search. Its better to host on UK servers as your visitors will get fast response for your website hosting but in case of US servers they will have slow down. We have highly reliable network in UK and our datacenter has connectivity of 15 gbps and very few datacenters have such network.

I did a search in google with inurl:www.mysite.com and got back two results both with my domain. One had www.mysite.com with a discription and the other result looked just like this www.mysite.com%20/
Anybody have any ideas why a "%20/" showing up after my domain? I never used "%20/" in any of my page names.

An entry was found in my index.dat file, using Encase software, which my employers believed this to be an attempted log onto the website hosting however a pice of software called 'Websense' blocked it, I have contacted Websense who have stated that they would not have blocked this attempt log on and certainly would not have put an entry in the index.dat file. The entry looks similiar to the following

REDR----á—··€/~৳http://www.faceparty.com/·–·

I have looked into this and it appears that this is nothing but a redirect to the website hosting. Can anyone give me any information on this at all?

Country IP Change

Hi - Please can anyone tell me how long it will take Google to pick up an IP address change? The reason I ask it because I have a .com domain that did not appear well on Google.co.uk because it was hosted in Portugal. I switched the hosting to UK about 10 days ago and Google has revisited my homepage since then, but the site is still not appearing any better on Google.co.uk. Can it take a while for this change to be detected?
