    Professional Web Designer or DIY?

I've heard a lot of different opinions on this. Some say that time is money and to spend it doing what you know best and leave the other to the professionals. I've been reading up a lot of designing your own and different ways so would like some opinions here if possible? Thanks

Hiring a professional web designer has obvious benefits in terms of professionalism and quality of work but can be expensive. I suppose it depends on what you are wanting to produce. If you are wanting a simple web-site to begin with for informative purposes then you may as well have a go at doing it yourself. There is alot of information out there on producing websites and many ways to achieve this goal.

It is time consuming to begin with but once you have set the site up, maintaining and updating it is relatively easy to do.

Thanks for your response. I've been trying to learn FrontPage 2003 to see if I think I can create a small site, like you said, might as well have a go at it. We'll see how that goes.

        Don't use FrontPage - it's not good.

I'd suggest you start with a CMS - wordpress or the like. The site will be up quickly and adding content is a breeze.

I agree. For me, the best and most cost efficient solution is using a CMS or blog software like Wordpress. You can always customize your Wordpress blog, to the point that it doesn't look like a WP blog anymore.

Depending on the nature of the website you are building, I think using Wordpress would be a good start even is you were an experienced web designer. It's faster than building a website from scratch.
