Adobe recently announced going forward their Creative Suite applications such as Photoshop and Illustrator will only be available on Adobe's subscription-based Creative Cloud service. This means new customers that want to purchase Adobe Photoshop will soon only be able to do so as a subscription. The benefits of this are unlimited upgrades to new versions of Photoshop as and when new releases become available; but a major drawback of a subscription model is for the end user, they will be paying more over time as opposed to purchasing the product outright if they keep the same software for many years.
How will this change affect you? Would you much rather pay a smaller monthly fee than having to purchase the product outright, or do you prefer to have the option of purchasing the software outright?
