Hyper-V Replica is among some of the new capabilities in Windows Server 2012 that provides a way to replicate a virtual machine onto another Hyper-V server in the event that the primary Hyper-V virtual machine fails.
Both the primary and replica sites are Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V hosts where the primary site runs the primary VMs, with the replica site standing by with the replicated VMs. Should the primary site experience a planned or unplanned outage, the replicated VMs will be brought online to take over. Replication is ongoing and Hyper-V will only replicate the changes of a configured primary VM.
