In this article, we will describe how to manage the ModSecurity module in cPanel.
What is ModSecurity?
ModSecurity is an Apache module which provides an extra layer of protection for your account. It offers you HTTP request filtering and other features to identify and stop threats before they can reach an application.
Important note:
Disabling ModSecurity removes an important layer of web-application protection. Without it, your website becomes more vulnerable to attacks such as SQL injection, cross-site scripting (XSS), and other malicious requests.
For this reason, disabling ModSecurity is not recommended unless absolutely necessary for troubleshooting, and it should be re-enabled as soon as the issue is resolved.
Follow these steps to manage the ModSecurity module for your account:
- Log in to your cPanel Account.
- Click on the ModSecurity sub-option under the Security from the Search tool.

- Select one of the following options to Disable ModSecurity:
- If you want to disable ModSecurity for any domains, then click on the Disable.
- To disable a specific domain, click on the Off button.

- Select one of the following options to enable ModSecurity:
- If you want to enable ModSecurity for any domains, then click on Enable.
- If you want to enable ModSecurity for any specific domain, then click on the ON button.
