CAPTCHA protection helps safeguard your WordPress site from spam and malicious bot attacks. This guide explains how to implement CAPTCHA using the Google Captcha (reCAPTCHA) plugin.
Follow these steps to add CAPTCHA protection to your WordPress site using the Google Captcha (reCAPTCHA) plugin:
- Log in to WordPress as the site administrator.
- From the Dashboard, click on Plugins and then “Add New.”
- In the Search box, type “google captcha.”
- Find the Google Captcha (reCAPTCHA) plugin and click “Install Now.”
- Once installed, go to Plugins > Installed Plugins.
- Locate the Google Captcha (reCAPTCHA) plugin and click “Activate.”
- Click on “Settings.”
- To generate the necessary keys (public and private), click the registration link under Authentication and follow the instructions.
- After obtaining your keys from Google, enter the public key in the Public Key field and the private key in the Private Key field.
- In the Options section, choose your desired settings and then click Save Changes.
CAPTCHA protection is now active on your site. To test it, visit your site’s front page, click the comment link on a post, and you should see a CAPTCHA in the submission form.
