In this article, we will explain how to use cPanel to protect specific directories with a password.
Follow these steps to add password protection to a directory:
- Log into your “cPanel Account”.
- Search for “Directory Privacy”, from the Search tools.
- Select the name of the “Directory” that you want to protect and click “Edit”.
- Under “Security Settings”, select the Password protect this directory check box.
- In the Enter a name for the protected directory text box, you need to type a name for the protected directory.
- Click on “Save”.
- Under Create User, enter a username in the “Username text box”.
- In the New Password text box, enter the “user’s password”.
- Retype the “user’s password” the password in the Confirm Password text box.
- Click “Save”.
Follow these steps to remove password protection to a directory:
- Login to “cPanel Account”.
- Click on the “Directory Privacy”, from the “Search tools”.
- Select the “Directory” whose password protection you want to “Remove” by clicking its name.
- Click on “Edit”.
- Under “Security Settings”, delete the Password protect this directory check box.
- Click on “Save”.
