How to Configure FTP Clients in cPanel

In this article, we have explained how to configure FTP clients in cPanel. Users can use the Configure FTP client feature in cPanel to auto-configure FTP client, if using FTP applications like FileZilla, CoreFTP (for Windows), or Cyberduck (for Mac).

Note- Presently cPanel only supports these three FTP clients for auto-configuration. If you wish to use another FTP client, you will have to manually set up the FTP client.

Let us configure FTP clients in cPanel-

  1. Log in to cPanel.
  2. Install FTP application if it is not installed on your computer.
  3. Select the “Files” section and click on the “FTP Accounts” sub-option.

  4. Scroll down and select the FTP account you wish to configure on your FTP client.
  5. Click on the “Configure FTP client” option as shown in the image.

  6. As soon as you click on it, configuration files will appear on the screen.
  7. Click on the “FTP configuration file” button under the desired FTP client.

  8. The file will be downloaded to your local computer.
  9. Open the downloaded file and it will open the FTP client and start the auto-configuration procedure.
