This article explains how to configure an FTP client using cPanel. The Configure FTP Client feature in cPanel allows users to automatically configure supported FTP applications, such as FileZilla, CoreFTP (Windows), and Cyberduck (Mac). This simplifies the setup process and helps establish a secure connection to your hosting account quickly.
Note: Currently, cPanel supports auto-configuration only for FileZilla, CoreFTP, and Cyberduck. If you are using any other FTP client, you will need to configure it manually using the provided FTP credentials.
Let us configure FTP clients in cPanel:
- Log in to cPanel.
- Install the FTP application if it is not installed on your computer.
- Select the Files section and click on the FTP Accounts sub-option.

- Scroll down and select the FTP account you wish to configure on your FTP client.
- Click on the Configure FTP client option.

- As soon as you click on it, configuration files will appear on the screen.
- Click the FTP configuration file button under the desired FTP client.

- The file will be downloaded to your local computer.
- Open the downloaded file, and it will open the FTP client and start the auto-configuration procedure.
