How to Create Global Email Filters for your Domain in cPanel

This article explains how to create Global Email Filters in cPanel using the latest cPanel interface. Global Email Filters apply rules to all email accounts on your hosting account, allowing you to automatically manage, redirect, or filter incoming emails at the domain level.

What Are Global Email Filters?

Global Email Filters are rules that process incoming emails for all mailboxes under your account. These filters are useful for blocking spam, redirecting emails, or handling messages based on specific criteria such as sender, subject, or content.

Prerequisites
Before you begin, ensure that:

  • You have access to cPanel
  • Email services are enabled on your hosting account
  • You are logged in with valid cPanel credentials

Follow the steps:

  1. Log in to your cPanel account using your username and password.
  2. In the cPanel dashboard, go to the Email section.
  3. Click on Global Email Filters.

  4. You will be redirected to the Edit Filters for “All Mail on your Account” page.
  5. Under the Create Filter section, click Create a New Filter.

  6. A filter configuration screen will appear. Configure the following fields:
    1. Filter Name: Enter a descriptive name for the filter.
    2. Rules: Define the conditions used to match emails (for example, From, Subject, or Body).
    3. Actions: Select the action to perform when the rule matches, such as discard the message, redirect it, or deliver it to a specific folder.
  7. You can use the plus (+) and minus (–) icons to add or remove rules and actions as required.

  8. After configuring the filter rules and actions, click Create.

  9. A success message will confirm that the Global Email Filter has been created.

  10. Once created, the filter will appear in the list under Global Email Filters. Filters are processed in the order shown, from top to bottom.

  • Global Email Filters apply to all email accounts on the hosting account.
  • Rules are executed in order, so arrange filters carefully.
  • Test filters thoroughly to prevent accidental email loss.
  • You can edit or delete filters at any time from the Global Email Filters page.
