In this guide, we explain how to move WHM backups to a remote server through FTP, a valuable precaution to protect your backups in case of any issues with your local server.
To move WHM backups to a remote destination through FTP, follow these steps:
- Log in to WHM.
- Navigate to the “Backup” option and click on the “Backup Configuration” sub-option.
- You will be taken to the “Backup Configuration” page.
- Select the “Additional Destination” tab.
- From the drop-down menu, choose “FTP” as the destination type and click the “Create New Destination” button.
- A new screen will appear, prompting you to enter the details of the remote destination.
- Click the “Save and Validate Destination” button.
- After validation, click the “Save Configuration” button.
- Verify the transfer functionality by manually initiating the backup process.
- To run the backup manually, execute the following command:
/usr/local/cpanel/bin/backup –force
- Once complete, a new log file will be generated, allowing you to confirm the integrity of both the backup and transfer processes.
