How to Move WordPress from a Subfolder to the Root Directory

This article explains how to move WordPress from a subfolder to the root directory. Before making any changes, back up your account.

Follow the steps:

  1. Prepare WordPress for the Move:
    1. Log in to your WordPress dashboard.
    2. Go to Settings > General.

  2. Move WordPress Files to the Root Directory:
    1. Log in to cPanel and open File Manager.

    2. Enable Show Hidden Files in the settings.

    3. Navigate to your subfolder (e.g., /WordPress).
    4. Select all files and click Copy.

    5. Change the destination to public_html and confirm.
    6. Go to public_html to verify the files are copied.
    7. Delete the old WordPress subfolder.
